As York Region continues to dig its way out of a significant snowfall Monday, the "Snow Day" will be extended to Tuesday at York Region's public and Catholic schools.

"Due to today’s significant snowfall amount and the condition of roads, sidewalks and school parking lots that remain to be plowed, York Region District School Board schools will be closed to students on Jan. 18, 2022. Students will learn remotely (synchronous online learning)," according to a communication released Monday evening.

Students are not to attend school in person.

Bus and taxi transportation service to York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board schools is cancelled, as well as before and aftercare programs.
