Both school boards in York Region have disclosed their vaccination rates for staff and trustees, as required by the province.

York Region District School Board reports that 76.5 per cent of staff and trustees have attested to being fully vaccinated.

York Catholic District School Board reports that 59 per cent of staff have attested to being fully vaccinated.

This comes after the provincial government required that all publicly funded school boards disclose immunization rates for all employees and individuals who will regularly be in school settings for the 2021-2022 school year.

The boards were required to post the results by Sept. 15 and must continue to update it monthly.

Individuals subject to the protocol have to provide either proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, a medical exemption, or completion of a COVID-19 vaccine educational program prescribed by the Ministry of Education.

Those who are not vaccinated will have to complete a rapid antigen test twice a week.
