York police taking to streets for 20-minute makeovers

York Regional Police is pleased to support a greener, safer environment by celebrating 2019 Earth Week and participating in 20-minute makeovers in eight locations across York Region.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, officers and civilian members of York Regional Police will be taking to the streets to participate in 20-minute makeovers at police locations across the region. In the event of inclement weather, the clean-up will be rescheduled for Thursday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m.

Local locations include York Regional Police Headquarters at 47 Don Hillock Dr. in  Aurora and at #1 District station at 240 Prospect St. in Newmarket.

Earth Day is one of the largest, most celebrated environmental events worldwide. Each year it is celebrated on April 22 and was first launched as an environmental awareness event in the United States of America in the 1970s.

Earth Day has grown into Earth Week and even Earth Month worldwide to accommodate the many events and projects that take place. Each year, thousands of private events are held by schools, community groups and businesses across Canada.
