York Police take to the court in memory of officer

Proceeds of tomorrow's 13th annual Charity Basketball Game in honour of Const. Davis Ahlowalia will be donated to Jamaican orphans

York Regional Police, in partnership with staff and students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School (SJA), is pleased to participate in the 13th annual Charity Basketball Game in honour of York Regional Police Officer Davis Ahlowalia, who was tragically killed on Jan. 6, 2007, in a motor vehicle collision.

SJA Catholic High School in the City of Vaughan is hosting a basketball game that will see York Regional Police officers compete against the SJA Senior Boys and Girls Basketball Team to raise money to support orphans in Jamaica, a cause that was dear to Davis.

All proceeds will be donated in memory of Davis to YRP, c/o Adopt a Mission. Since the annual event began, more than $20,000 has been raised. Donations will be accepted at the door from anyone wishing to attend this special event.

The game is scheduled for Thursday, April 4, 2019 at noon. at SJA, located at 1 St. Joan of Arc Avenue in Vaughan. Students wishing to attend have been asked to purchase a $2 ticket.

“This tradition continues to be very special to members of York Regional Police,” said Chief Eric Jolliffe. “It’s important for us to honour Davis’ memory in a meaningful way and this cause was very close to his heart.”
