The Labour Ministry and York Regional Police are investigating the accident that sent the victim to hospital by air ambulance this afternoon

A woman in her mid-30s was seriously injured this afternoon in a farm accident in East Gwillimbury, according to York Regional Police.

The woman, who was transported to hospital by Ontario’s air ambulance service, Ornge, appears to have been operating a tractor when she fell off and was run over, Const. Andy Pattenden said of what's known at this early investigative stage.

“At 12:34 p.m., we received a call from the Royal Canadian Riding Academy, located at 4252 Davis Dr., for a report that a female in her 30s had been run over by a tractor,” he said.

The Labour Ministry is investigating the accident.

An investigation by York police is ongoing.

The Royal Canadian Riding Academy is a 250-stall, all-season riding facility about 13 kilometres east of Newmarket in Cedar Valley. It offers three Olympic-sized outdoor rings, an outdoor dressage ring and three indoor arenas for horse riders from beginner-level to expert.
