Families invited to drop in at Art with Heart

You can join in for some family fun tonight at the Old Town Hall on Botsford Street by creating art in a collaborative spirit, using a range of art materials and techniques. The session features different art-based activities and local artists and storytellers who share their wisdom, gifts, reflections and, especially, their love of art.  The event is for ages 6 and up, and runs on Friday, Oct. 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. To register, visit here

Veteran musicians Fred Eaglesmith and Tif Ginn perform Saturday

The Newmarket Folk Society, which is dedicated to presenting the finest in roots music performers, present Fred Eaglesmith in concert with his wife, Tif Ginn, on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion at 707 Srigley St. After 42 years touring the United States, Canada and Europe, having songs from 22 albums covered by some of the biggest names in music, and appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman, Fred Eaglesmith is carrying on Tif. The talented singer and a songwriter has also spent most of her life touring and playing music. Her impressive, sultry vocals and harmonies with Fred, along with her multiple instrument additions to the show, will have you in awe. For tickets, $30, visit here.

KC’s Cancer Cushion Fund holds it first annual Oktoberfest Saturday

KC's Cancer Cushion Fund is hosting its first annual Oktoberfest at Market Brewing Co. with a night full of themed drinks, food, games and chances to win prizes Saturday, Oct.20 starting at 7 p.m. The fund provides financial relief — a small cushion — to cancer warriors so that they can focus on the things that matter rather than worrying about the bills, honouring the legacy of founder Kate Coen, who lost her battle with cancer in 2008. Vinyl Record and Collectibles Show returns Sunday

Pop in to the Royal Canadian Legion Sunday, Oct. 21 between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.to explore the 6th Newmarket Vinyl Record and Collectibles Show. There will be an assortment of vinyl records, audio equipment, books and CDs, as well as music-related art and collectibles. The show is presented by the Record Vault. 100 Women Who Care welcomes new members

You can join a group that makes a difference, raising $10,000 in less than an hour, four times a year. The 100 Women Who Care local giving circle, which has donated more than $100,000 to grassroots charities serving Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Newmarket and area, is meeting next Wednesday at the Market Brewing Company.
