Strike a pose at the Inception High Tea Fashion Show and Live Performances

Come out for a night to remember as you are immersed in an evening of high tea culture, fashion and live performances. A silent auction and door prizes are also offered at the event at the Newmarket Legion, 707 Srigley St. Friday, Oct. 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. This fundraising event supports the Inn from the Cold homeless shelter. Start the weekend with Take Note and Friends

The Take Note vocal ensemble is performing a benefit concert at St. Paul’s Church, 227 Church St., Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. Take Note, a 12-voice, four-part vocal ensemble, sings a wide variety of music from many genres, including folk, traditional, pop, classical, jazz, and are accompanied by Lois Brown and Dale Matsushige. Tickets are $15 and are available by calling 905-853-7285 or at the door. There will be a wine bar and doors open at 7 p.m.

Take the Art Walk and Studio Tour

The Newmarket Group of Artists presents its 10th Annual Art Walk and Studio Tour Show, showcasing the work of 36 artists exhibiting in 15 venues Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tour is take place in and around Newmarket’s historic downtown district. Visitors are able to see juried original art on display in artists’ home studios, in Main Street businesses, and at the Old Town Hall. The tour is always a great opportunity to talk to the artists about their work and their process, and admission is free.

Music on Main present opera singer Jonathan Kirby

Music on Main presents Newmarket native and opera singer Jonathan Kirby, who will take the stage with fiancée Lisa Faieta to sing alongside Toronto-based pianist Vlad Soloviev. This performance to remember takes place at Trinity United Church at 461 Park Ave. Saturday, Oct. 13 from 7:30 to 11:59 p.m. This all-ages event costs $10 per student and $20 per adult.
