What's going on in Newmarket this weekend? Everything!

Here's what you need to know if you're attending one of the many festivals and fun events — or if you're just trying to make your way around town

There’s no shortage of food, fun and festivals taking place this weekend, from Saturday, June 15 to Sunday, June 16 in downtown Newmarket.

But to accommodate all the hustle and bustle expected to hit Newmarket’s historic Main Street area, some road and parking lot closures will be in effect until Sunday.

Here’s what you need to know to get around — and down! — at the York Pride parade, the Newmarket Community Craft Beer festival, the Fairy Lake Artisans’ festival, and more.

Of note: The Newmarket Craft Beer fest has moved back to its original location in the parking lot north of the Newmarket Community Centre and Lions Hall, where it was held last year.

All the rain of late has made the grass too soggy at Fairy Lake, where the fest was going to set up Saturday, and there was a concern the ground may get torn up. But organizers say they have a larger patch of pavement than last year, and the fest will still offer everything as planned.

Of note: The Newmarket Farmers Market will run from a temporary location on Saturday, June 15, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gorman Pool, between D’Arcy and Water streets.

The market will return to its usual location at Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr., on Saturday, June 22.

Of note: You are invited to join the Women's Support Network of York Region float in Saturday's York Pride parade and promote equal rights while supporting the 2SLGBTQ community. The float is wheelchair accessible. To sign up, contact Seema at 905-895-3646 or email [email protected].
