Board Gaming: Join local board game enthusiasts at Cardinal Press Espresso Bar at 200 Main St. Newmarket from 6 to 10 p.m. The games are provided and teachers are available, or you bring your games to teach others. Note from organizers: We don't tend to play a lot of 'traditional' board games such as Monopoly, Clue, Sorry! Let them know what you would like to play when you RSVP and they will bring those games. 

Curtain Club Theatre's Jonas & Barry in the Home: In Jonas & Barry in the Home, two retirees search for friendship, love, sex and elusive happiness in an assisted living home. Barry meets new arrival Jonas and together they bicker and bond over women, sports, family values – learning how to open up to each other and how to keep living their lives. Directed by Sharon Dykstra, produced by Steve Hetherington, starring: Cam Lund, Phil Dionne and Rashi Gupta. Runs till Sunday, June 11 at 400 Newkirk Rd., Richmond Hill. Single tickets $22.

Optimist Club of Newmarket 10th Annual Poker Run for Kids With Cancer: Motorcycle riders are invited to join the ride in support of Southlake Regional Health Centre's pediatric oncology centre June 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event day begins with some light refreshments for riders, and includes two or three stops with food, and music and prizes at the end of the run. The run is open to all makes and models of motorcycles. Cost is $25 per rider and $15 per passenger. More details.

Newmarket Farmers' Market: Every Saturday morning from May through October, Riverwalk Commons in historic downtown Newmarket is transformed into a vibrant market space where our community gathers to support local food. Connect with local farmers, enjoy a delicious treat, discover unique artisans or take in some live music while visiting with family and friends. Mental Health in Motion: The annual run/walk/ride event offers a a powerful opportunity to connect, engage, inspire and support youth mental health in York Region and South Simcoe. At Ray Twinney Recreation Complex in Newmarket, Mental Health in Motion raises urgently needed funds so that young people 12-25 have immediate access to MOBYSS (Mobile York South Simcoe, Ontario’s first mobile mental health clinic), no-cost, in-person (and also virtual) mental health programs and professional support. Ride 60 km, 25 km or 5 km | Run 10 km or 5 km | Walk 5km. Registration for this family-friendly event includes lunch, technical shirt or cycling jersey, entertainment and much more.

CFUW Home and Garden Tour: Canadian Federation of University Women Aurora/Newmarket hosts its Come Be Inspired 2023 Home & Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This signature fundraising event features six homes and two gardens in Holland Landing, Aurora, Newmarket and Oak Ridges. Proceeds benefit scholarships for young women in the community. Tickets are $40

York Region Pride Fest, June 16 & 17: Join York Region in celebrating 10 years of the York Pride parade with a two-day festival Events include Sparkling Night opening ceremonies at Riverwalk Commons (200 Duncan Dr.) on June 16 from 6 p.m. to midnight, and York Region Pride parade on Main Street on June 17 beginning at 3 p.m. More information at yorkpride.ca/pridefestival  

Fairy Lake Artisans Festival, June 17 & 18: North Newmarket Lions host the annual artisans festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fairy Lake Park.

Polo for Heart, Toronto Polo Club in Richmond Hill, Saturday, June 24: Polo For Heart marks its 43rd year supporting advanced cardiac care at Southlake Regional Health Centre with events for the whole family. The Rosé Polo Classic presented by Bread & Butter wines features a traditional day at polo, you can buy a table or individual pavilion brunch ticket or a Mallet Grille barbecue ticket to see international polo games - get up close to these majestic and powerful polo ponies, horse and hounds, Western riding demo and opportunity meet these beautiful majestic horses, silent auction, boutiques, live music and entertainment, high tea with strawberries and cream, and lemonade cocktails. Busk Till Dusk, Fridays and Saturdays, June 23 to Sept. 2: Every Friday and Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m., street performers will showcase their talent on Main Street Newmarket. Busking brings a variety of performance art forms to the street, offering close-up entertainment for a tip in the hat that goes to support the entertainers themselves, and provides a sense of energy and buzz to the area.
