Newmarket Juried Art Show (NJAS) The Newmarket Juried Art Show returns to the Serpa Gallery, Old Town Hall, featuring beautiful pieces from local artists. Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. Gallery closed April 30.

Marquee Presents The Addams Family: A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family at NewRoads Performing Arts Centre, 505 Pickering Cres., Newmarket at 7:30 p.m. Tickets adults $30, children and seniors $27. More details

Friday, April 28

Pedaling Possibilities Trivia Night: Join a fun family trivia night in support of the Pedaling Possibilties ride across Canada by bike. Cost is $20 and includes an evening of music, pop culture, and geography questions (with some Canadian-fact questions thrown in for good measure, music, raffles, and more, at the Newmarket Community Centre, 200 Doug Duncan Dr. Doors open at 7 p.m., trivia begins at 8 p.m., and the party ends at midnight. Board Gaming: Join local board game enthusiasts at Cardinal Press Espresso Bar at 200 Main St. Newmarket from 6 to 10 p.m. The games are provided and teachers are available, or you bring your games to teach others. Note from organizers: We don't tend to play a lot of 'traditional' board games such as Monopoly, Clue, Sorry! Let them know what you would like to play when you RSVP and they will bring those games. 

Inked Circus Tattoo Expo Markham 2023 April 28-30: Inked Circus Tattoo Expos are about bringing to Canada an amazing time filled with art, entertainment, kicking off in Markham with tattoo artists, side shows, bands and more. Friday from 3 to 11 p.m., Saturday noon to 11 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Markham Fairgrounds, 10801 McCowan Rd.

Shop 2 End Stigma: Shop at 40 vendors, bid on silent auction items at the 6th annual Shop 2 End Stigma to support the Canadian Mental Health Association - York Region South Simcoe youth mental health programs, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stronach Aurora Recreation Complexat 1400 Wellington St. East, Aurora. Free admission, with donations of personal necessities like shampoo, toothpaste, razors etc. requested for Kevin's Place Youth Shelter in Newmarket. Old Flame Brewing's Spring Fling Block Party: Newmarket’s Old Flame Brewing Co. is holding a block party with live music by JJ Thompson and Alyssa Morissey, food trucks, a beer garden, retro vibes and lawn games from 2 to 7 p.m. on Millard Avenue, which will be closed from Main to Raglan streets from noon to 8 p.m. 

Repair Café: Get ready for the return of the Newmarket Public Library's free Repair Café in collaboration with NewMakeIt and York Region. Volunteers will be on hand using their skills to fix small appliances, jewelry, toys, clothing, and more. Just bring your item and any replacement part it needs. One item allowed per guest. Register early, space is limited. Register for a Repair Café timeslot 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

English Country Dance: Join the dance at Trinity United Church, 461 Park Ave. at Main Street, Newmarket from 2 to 4 p.m. Beginners welcome; all dances taught; you don't need to bring a partner. Admission by donation; your first class is free. Join the group on the first, third and (when there is one) fifth Saturday of the month.

Tapestry Chamber Choir and York Chamber Ensemble Concert, Saturday May 6: The ​Tapestry Chamber Choir and the York Chamber Ensemble will be performing the entire Requiem of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 222 Church St, Newmarket,  at 7:30 p.m. They will be joined by talented soloists from both near and far. Barks and Brew Bus Tour, Saturday, May 6: Bring your well-behaved doggie on the bus. You’ll visit Henderson Brewing, Nickelbrook Brewing (Etobicoke), and finish at Great Lakes Brewing where they will have a doggy photo booth. $110 a person or $200 a couple (plus HST) that includes two drink tokens. Premium Comedy presents Glen Foster, Saturday, May 13: "That Canadian Guy” Glen Foster is coming to Newmarket to perform at the intimate and historic Sociable Pub, 17380 Yonge St., at 8:30 p.m. Glen, who has been performing standup comedy for over four decades, is always witty, timely, and relevant, with comedy that reflects both on his own experience and current affairs and popular culture. Those who enjoy a more sophisticated yet slightly “edgy” kind of humour will enjoy Glen’s comedy. This is a rare appearance in York Region by one of Canada’s comedy legends. He has made eight appearances on CBC’s Just for Laughs, as well as numerous  appearances on television and radio shows. Curtain Club Theatre's Jonas & Barry in the Home, May 26 to June 11: In Jonas & Barry in the Home, two retirees search for friendship, love, sex and elusive happiness in an assisted living home. Barry meets new arrival Jonas and together they bicker and bond over women, sports, family values – learning how to open up to each other and how to keep living their lives. GranAurora presents the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir, Sunday, May 28: Marketplace opens at 2 p.m., concert starts 3 p.m. at Bethel Christian Community Church at 333 Davis Dr. Newmarket. CFUW Home and Garden Tour, Sunday, June 11: Canadian Federation of University Women Aurora/Newmarket hosts its Come Be Inspired 2023 Home & Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This signature fundraising event features six homes and two gardens in Holland Landing, Aurora, Newmarket and Oak Ridges. Proceeds benefit scholarships for young women in the community. Tickets are $40
