Vulnerable Newmarket man, 53, missing since Sept. 1 (update: located)

Sept. 13 update:
York Regional Police would like to thank the media and the public for the assistance in locating a 53-year-old man who was missing from the Town of Newmarket.

Ravishankar Marthandar was last seen Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, around 10:30 p.m. when he left his residence in the area of Prospect Street and Timothy Street, on foot.

He was located in Newmarket by investigators.

York Regional Police is asking for public assistance to find a missing 53-year-old vulnerable Newmarket man.

Ravishankar Marthandar was last seen Sept. 1 around 10:30 p.m., according to investigators.

Police said he left his residence in the area of Timothy and Prospect streets on foot. He has not returned since, and family, friends and police have been unable to locate him.

“Investigators are concerned for his well-being and are asking anyone with information to contact police,” a police press release said.

Marthandar is described as 5' 7", with a heavy build, short, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown and gold hoodie, black pants, black shoes and carrying a blue gym bag.
