A 21-year-old woman from the City of Markham has been sadly located deceased after she was reported missing yesterday.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, police responded to a residence in Markham for reports of a missing person.

Arwa Ayub was last seen by her family on Nov. 25, 2019. On Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, she was sadly found deceased in the City of Toronto.

Her death does not appear to be a result of a criminal act and there are no concerns for public safety. The Office of the Chief Coroner has attended and will be investigating.

York Regional Police is seeking the public's assistance in locating a missing vulnerable woman from Markham. 

Arwa Ayub, 21, was last seen Nov. 25, 2019 at about 12:30 a.m., at her family residence on Edward Jeffreys Avenue in the Markham Road and 16th Avenue area, according to police.

Police say Ayub, a former York University student, is believed to have taken public transit to the Toronto university.

Her family reported her missing on Tuesday, Nov. 26, as she has not returned home and they have been unable to locate her.

Police and family members are growing increasingly concerned for her well-being.

Missing:
    •    Female, 21 years
    •    5’4”
    •    Long black hair
    •    Last seen wearing a brown toque, black jacket, blue jeans, brown boots, a checkered red shirt and rectangular prescription glasses
    •    Carrying a black backpack
