Vince's Market has been awarded for its contributions to the communities it serves, including Newmarket and East Gwillimbury.

The store received the CIGBA/DCI Social Responsibility Award from Distribution Canada Inc. (DCI). The award is given to retailers who show leadership in a community-based, green/environmental, or charitable initiative.

“Corporate philanthropy is part of who we are, and we are humbled to be selected as the overall winner in this important category,” said Vince’s managing partner Giancarlo Trimarchi. “It is a privilege to be in a position to help during these challenging times, and it is through the efforts of our team members that we are able to support so many community organizations.”

There were a number of reasons cited for why Vince's was a recipient of this award. One of them was the community product initiative.

Through this campaign, a product is selected every couple of weeks and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of that product are donated to the selected beneficiary of the year. In the past four years, more than $83,000 has been raised through this initiative.

The 2021 recipient of the community product initiative was the mental health program at Southlake Regional Health Centre, with $25,812 raised. This year, the recipient is Canadian Mental Health Association - York Region South Simcoe. Vince's commitment to mental health was another reason it received this award.

Vince's was also recognized for Project Smile, where it hosted parties at area retirement homes, including Alexander Muir in Newmarket.

Another reason cited was that Vince's dedicated an annual budget of $45,000 for giving back to the community, which includes sponsorship, gift cards, and donations.

The final reason for why Vince's received this award was that it employs a community ambassador, Maria Ciarlandini, who is always looking for opportunities to be involved.

The next community initiative from Vince's is a barbecue on July 8 with the MOBYSS bus from CMHA -YRSS to raise awareness about the mobile mental health clinic and raise money for it.
