All the charges for violations of COVID-19 public health regulations in York Region were laid in Vaughan last week, following reopening in step one June 11.
York Region's COVID-19 enforcement task force laid another eight charges and conducted 510 inspections from June 7 to 13, compared to just two charges the week before for violations under the provincial Reopening Ontario Act, according to the region.
Two restaurants in Vaughan, Est. 2020 at 3603 Langstaff Rd. and Regalz Kitchen and Bar at 4000 Steeles Ave. were charged with having more than four people sitting at one table for outdoor dining.
Est. 2029 was also charged for playing music “at a decibel level that exceeds the level of conversation," as were Posh Supperclub at 2180 Steeles Ave W. and the Cameo Lounge at 4120 Steeles Ave W.
Aesthetic Therapies at Unit 11, Strada Drive was charged for failure to close, while Load King Transport on Trade Valley Drive was charged for employees not wearing masks.
Two charges were laid by York Region Public Health, one was laid by York Region Transit, and five charges were issued by Vaughan bylaw officers.
Each fine amounts to $880.
No businesses or residents in Newmarket were charged, however, bylaw officers conducted eight inspections and issued three education notices.
