Research reveals that 75 per cent of Canadians have been affected by bullying. To draw attention to this alarming reality and stand up against violence, Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us Canada launches a yearly campaign in support of Pink Shirt Day.

Pink Shirt Day, also known as Anti-Bullying Day, educates and inspires Canadian students, parents, members of the education community and the population at large to take action against violence and bullying. This worldwide movement originated in Canada back in 2007 when a ninth-grade student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt and his peers stood up for him by wearing pink to school the following day.

This year, on Saturday, Feb. 16, Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us Canada will be giving away pink shirts reading “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” to their first 100 customers in all of their 82 stores — encouraging kids across Canada to wear pink in support of anti-bullying.

Additionally, on Pink Shirt Day (Wednesday, Feb. 27), Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us Canada associates and employees will be wearing pink shirts as they stand in solidarity with this movement.
