NEWMARKET – The Beer Store is in full swing with a bottle drive in support of Southlake Regional Health Centre. Empties and monetary donations are being accepted until Sept. 6, 2020 at any of the Aurora, Newmarket, Bradford, East Gwillimbury, Georgina and Beeton stores.

Funds will support Southlake Foundation’s COVID-19 Action Fund, ensuring that the hospital’s frontline staff have the tools and equipment they need to provide leading-edge care safely to patients across the communities it serves. With nine participating locations, this initiative has already raised over $63,000 and they’re not finished yet.

“As members of the community, The Beer Store is proud to support the Southlake Regional Health Centre,” said Ozzie Ahmed, general manager retail operations at The Beer Store. “During these extraordinary times, we recognize the funds needed to support our local hospitals with increased investments in areas such as PPE, and health and safety equipment. Our customers help enable us to build these relationships and support our goal of giving back to the communities we reside in. With empty return and monetary contributions, we’re able to give back and are honored to donate to Southlake Regional Health Centre.”

This provincewide initiative launched on March 17, with a focus on supporting hospitals across Ontario in the fight against COVID-19 and recognize the efforts of frontline staff who are working tirelessly to keep our communities safe. It is part of The Beer Store’s ongoing charitable work, giving back to their communities as part of their core business values.

This is yet another example of creative fundraising as Southlake’s communities continue to rally behind their hospital to show their support. To date, community support of the COVID-19 Action Fund has surpassed $2.3 million, and has been instrumental in providing the hospital’s current needs and preparing for the needs still to come.
