You can tee up to support the Rose of Sharon and young families in York Region on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Proceeds of the second annual charity golf tournament at Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club in East Gwillimbury will go to programs and services for pregnant youth and their young children.

“We know that strong communities are made up of people who take care of each other. One of the many reasons that we love what we do is our ability to be directly connected to the communities that we live and work in. We want to organize and participate in activities that help make where we live a great place,” event sponsor Picone Real Estate said in a news release. “That's why we are excited to partner once again with the community-minded folks at Market Brewing Company to support the second annual Rose of Sharon charity Golf Classic.”

You can register online with fees at $150 for an individual player or $600 for a foursome, which inlcudes a day of golf, a power cart, lunch and a swag bag.

All the funds raised will go toward Rose of Sharon, which supports 300 pregnant or parenting young mothers in York Region every year.

They offer young parents the opportunity to complete their high school education, one-on-one counselling, and programs to develop practical and parenting skills.

Throughout the pandemic, the organization has also been offering home delivery of diapers, baby food and groceries.

This year they also began offering a parenting program specifically for young fathers.

Other sponsors include Frank by Ostaco and Cassells, with sponsorship opportunities remaining available.
