Southlake Foundation hosted two special four-legged visitors to help gear up for the upcoming 2019 Polo for Heart! Staff had the opportunity to come and visit the polo ponies that will be part of the event later this month.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Polo for Heart, a community-organized fundraiser supporting the Regional Cardiac Care Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre, as well as the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Serving approximately 10,000 patients every year from across York Region, Simcoe County and even as far north as Muskoka, Southlake’s Regional Cardiac Care Program is the third largest in Ontario, renowned for performing a number of national and world-first procedures.

“We’re so grateful for the long-standing support of Polo for Heart over the years, and are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating this special milestone with them,” said Susan Mullin, President and CEO of Southlake Foundation. “Many of Southlake’s staff also attend the event, from our Cardiac Care Program but also from other departments across the hospital. It’s a lot of fun, and we’re certainly looking forward to a great day this year!”

Past support from Polo for heart has helped fund the expansion of Southlake’s Heart Rhythm Program, including infrastructure and services, vital to patients in our community and beyond. This year, proceeds will support the highest priority needs of the program to ensure thousands of patients every year can continue to have access to leading-edge and life-saving cardiac care closer to home.

While Polo Under the Stars is sold out, tickets are still available for Polo for Heart on Saturday, June 22. For more information or to purchase a ticket, visit www.poloforheart.org
