Summer maintenance doesn’t just affect the roads around town.

As the Canada Day long weekend winds down, all programs at the Newmarket Seniors’ Meeting Place will be cancelled from July 2 to 12 so maintenance upgrades can be done on the building.

The seniors’ centre at 474 Davis Dr. offers residents and non-residents aged 55 and older the chance to participate in a wide variety of activities and programs, including special events, bus trips, classes to learn a new skill, or just meet up and chat with friends over a meal on Mondays and Thursdays at noon.

Tours of the centre can be arranged anytime you drop in.

Members of the Newmarket Seniors' Meeting Place enjoy reduced fees for programs, bus trips and special events, and a reduction on hall rentals.

Membership fees are valid for one year from time of purchase or renewal for those 55 years and over or under 55 who are married to a member who is over 55 years of age. The fee for residents is $35 and $55 for non-residents.

Participants are required to have a valid membership or purchase a $2 day pass to participate in all day time drop-in program activities. All participants are required to have a valid membership to participate in evening drop-in program activities.
