The Regional Municipality of York's fourth annual Broadband and Innovation Summit will bring together 200 professionals from the private and public sector tomorrow in Markham.

Building on the success of previous events, the 2018 summit will focus on trends in desired skills for various industries, practical applications for attracting and retaining talent, supporting the development of future knowledge workers, and the role of broadband and other technologies on the nature of work.

MC'd by journalist, author and radio and television personality Marc Saltzman, this year’s sold-out summit will explore York Region as a knowledge workforce hub. A “knowledge workforce,” as defined by the Intelligent Community Forum, is a labour force that creates economic value through its knowledge, skills and ability to use information effectively.

Success in the Broadband Economy requires the ability to create a workforce qualified to perform knowledge work from the factory floor to the research lab, and from the construction site to the call centre.
