Random Acts of Christmas bringing cheer to local families in need

York Regional Police Association and Jewel 88.5 FM have partnered to share gifts and financial support to families and individuals in York Region that could use some help this Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like this holiday season will be brighter for York Region residents.

That's because York Regional Police Association (YRPA) is partnering with Jewel 88.5 FM to spread holiday cheer through the program, Random Acts of Christmas.

The goal is to share gifts and financial support to local families and individuals that could use some help this Christmas.

“Our uniformed and civilian members of York Regional Police Association wanted to do something special this holiday season and make a difference in the communities we serve,” York Regional Police Association president Todd Sepkowski said. “Random Acts of Christmas is our way of giving back to York Region and helping to bring the magic of Christmas alive.”

Jewel 88.5 program director Gary Gamble said the partnership gives the York Region station "a chance to help those who may not have the financial means to celebrate the holidays".

Through a public nomination process, Random Acts of Christmas will identify York Region families or individuals that could use some help or a pick-me-up.

All entries will be accepted at the 885thejewel.com contest page or can be emailed to [email protected]

The nomination period opened Nov. 12, 2019 and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Full contest details and information can be found online. Once the nomination period closes, a committee will review and select families and individuals who will receive a gift appropriate to their needs.

From Dec. 9 to 20, the Jewel team and York Regional Police Association will personally hand deliver Random Acts of Christmas to the recipients.

Do you know someone in York Region that could benefit from a Random Act of Christmas?
