The Newmarket Chamber of Commerce website Explore Newmarket encourages residents and visitors to do just that.

The website is a centralized hub where people can learn about different shops, places to eat, events, and activities happening around town.

It originally launched in the fall after the chamber received a $100,000 contribution from Central Counties Tourism. Central Counties Tourism had been given $8.65 million from FedDev Ontario, part of the Government of Canada, to help local tourism organizations recover from COVID-19 and prepare for the future through the Tourism Relief Fund.

To date, 118 organizations have benefited from this funding, including the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce.

"There are some incredible things happening here. We’re excited to launch explorenewmarket.com, and we’re thrilled to be working with talented photographers and content creators who are helping us shine a spotlight on Newmarket as the perfect day trip destination," said Chris Emmanuel, chamber president.

The chamber is currently encouraging folks to "warm up to winter fun" and embrace shops and dining in the downtown area and take advantage of ongoing winter events.

Visitors to the site can check out posts about where to eat, where to shop and things to do in Newmarket. There is also a section featuring upcoming events.

You can also submit your own event information for it to potentially be featured on the website.

Along with the website, the chamber has launched an Explore Newmarket Instagram account for people to follow to stay-up-to-date with what's happening in town and learn more about various things to do.
