No raiders, no pirates ... but a chance to 'Plunder' jewelry!

New line of fashion jewelry launched in Canada this month; Plunder stylists call themselves 'Jewel Junkies'

According to Merriam-Webster.com, ‘Plunder’ means ‘booty, prize, loot, something taken from another by force or craft.’

There’s no actual force connected with Plunder Design jewery; it's just great quality fashion jewelry at a price that’s a 'steal.'

“It’s a new company that just launched in Canada in May,” said local representative Tammy Hudgin, who helped organize an evening in Bond Head with a group of fellow-Plunder stylists known as the Jewel Junkies Group on Facebook.

“We wanted to get the company out there, get the jewelry out there. We wanted women to touch, feel the weight, the quality,” said Hudgin. “And the price is so low.”

Plunder Design was launched in the U.S. five years ago by Hillary Adams. It inspired by the vintage jewelry she discovered in her grandmother’s collection, and at estate and garage sales.

She wanted to re-create the kind of classic, timeless jewelry that would be treasured by its wearers.

Hillary began by selling her jewelry at vendor events, but soon was persuaded to move into direct sales. “It was a huge success – a crazy success,” said Hudgin, with more than $1 billion in sales in the first five years.

Now, Plunder Design is launching in Canada.

“We’re looking for salespeople, we’re looking for hostesses, we’re looking for customers,” Hudgin said, a Bond Head resident whose licence plate reads “FB Queen.”

She was joined by stylists Arlene Hearn, Nicole Toy, Jyllian Kuhnen, Amanda Knox, Lynn Thompson, Samantha Marchand, Susan Lusty, Lillian Foulkes, Lorraine Miller, and Margie Shapcott at the Bond Head Community Hall for the local launch.

With displays of jewelry set up around the room, and catalogues, prizes, candies and rewards for the participants, the evening was one of exploration, fun and opportunity.

“It’s a huge opportunity, to build up this way,” Hudgin said. “I’m pretty excited about it.”

And so were the women who came out looking for Plunder. For more information, see plunderdesign.com, or Jewel Junkies Group on Facebook.

“Plunder means to take by force… We need to fight for our dreams.” – Hillary.
