The Town of Newmarket is preparing to reopen its indoor skate park July 26, with capacity limits.

With the province in step three of reopening, a portion of the Recreation Youth Centre and Sk8 Park at 56 Charles St. will open for evenings from July 26 to Sept. 3, going from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Although the skate park will be available, other aspects of the youth centre — including the gymnasium, games area, and vertical wall — will remain closed for now.

Pre-registration is required and will be available starting Sunday, July 25 at 8 a.m. COVID-19 public health protocols will also be enforced, including pre-screening and physical distancing. Masks will be required when entering, but they can be removed while riding.

The municipality began a phased reopening of its indoor facilities this week, with the Magna Centre pool and fitness centre opening July 19.

Newmarket is not yet offering registered programs or rental opportunities at the youth centre facility.

The town will offer two time slots per day, each one hour and 15 minutes long, for youth aged 12 and under and 13 and older.

You can pre-register at newmarket.ca/youth. A $5 drop-in fee per session must be paid online. The capacity will be limited to 15 riders per session, with one spectator allowed per rider.
