Newmarket scoops three MarCom awards

The Town of Newmarket's excellence in marketing and communications has been recognized in world's largest creative competition

The Town of Newmarket recently received three awards from MarCom Awards and an honourable mention for the Award of Excellence at the Creative City Summit 2018.

The three MarCom awards include:

  • Platinum Award for the 2016 to 2017 Community Report: where community meets character - Print Media for Government
  • Platinum Award for Safety Starts with You: Cycling Safety Video Series – Educational Web Video
  • Gold Award for Safety Starts with You: Cycling Safety Video Series – Motion Graphic Video 
The 2016 to 2017 Community Report: where community meets character was designed to give Newmarket residents and stakeholders a glimpse into our ‘beauty community’. This report celebrates Newmarket as a place where:
  • Character meets community
  • Innovation meets open minds
  • Culture meets community
  • Work meets play and,
  • The familiar meets the unexpected. Whatever your preferences may be, there is a place for you in Newmarket. 

Safety Starts with You: Cycling Safety video series was created as part of an overall Traffic Safety Campaign that features Newmarket's safety mascots Safety Cone Sam and Belle the Bike. This video series includes three educational videos that focus on helmet safety, cycling hand signals and understanding how to navigate bike lanes and signs.
 
Creative City Summit 2018 presented the Town of Newmarket’s Inaugural National 10 Minute Play Festival in 2017 with an Honourable Mention in the Cultural Event Category for the Award of Excellence. This award recognizes a Canadian municipality that demonstrated visionary leadership by initiating, creating, and producing an exceptional cultural event or by empowering and supporting a community initiative that led to an exceptional cultural event.
 
The Newmarket National 10 Minute Play Festival – founded by former Dramatic Arts teacher Michael Halfin, with support from the Town of Newmarket, is a multi-day national festival for contemporary Canadian playwrights to express, explore and experiment with their storytelling. The festival is organized into six concise, fast-paced, ten-minute long plays in one hour and features professional actors and directors.

MarCom Awards is an internationally recognized organization that honours excellence in marketing and communications. It is the largest creative competition in the world that receives approximately 6,000 print and digital entries.
 
About the Creative City Network Canada

The Creative Cities Network of Canada (CCNC) is a non-profit organization made up of municipalities, arts organizations and individuals working to support cultural development in their communities.
