Newmarket chamber CEO moving on to new role with Ontario Chamber of Commerce

Tracy Macgregor joins OCC Oct. 1 as vice-president of member services after nearly a decade at the local organization

Newmarket Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Tracy Macgregor is leaving to join the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. 

"After close to a decade serving at the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce, including in her role as president and CEO, Tracy brings her exceptional experience in both business and as an Ontario Chamber Network leader,” said Rocco Rossi, president and CEO of the OCC, in a news release announcing her new role as vice-president of member services .

Macgregor joined the Newmarket chamber in 2012 as a business development manager and has been the president for more than three years, since longtime president Debra Scott retired in 2018. 

Her new position will be effective Oct. 1, 2021. 

“I am very excited to join the OCC leadership team and continue my career within the Ontario Chamber Network,” Macgregor said. “I believe our members have a very important role to play in supporting economic recovery and contributing to vibrant communities across Ontario. I look forward to working closely with our members and providing them with continuous support.”

In an online post announcing her departure, the Newmarket chamber said, “Tracy is an inspiring leader who truly brings out the best in us and we’re going to deeply miss her. Her presence is a huge win for the Ontario Chamber Network.”

Kyle Burgis, chair of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce board of directors, also said they are in the process of seeking a new president and CEO "to ensure a smooth transition of leadership."

Prior to joining the chambers, Macgregor worked at a business consulting firm for more than a decade and spent 13 years working in the tourism industry. 

She also sits on the OCC’s policy and advocacy committee, and Chamber Executives of Canada board of directors.
