A baby boy just days old was left overnight beside a Sutton fire station and discovered by Georgina firefighters about 3 a.m. today, York Regional Police say.

The baby appears to be in good health, is not injured in any way, and was taken to hospital as a precaution, York police Const. Andy Pattenden said.

York police urge the mother or anyone who may know her to contact police so they can ensure that she is OK.

Pattenden said York police is involved to ensure the safety of the mother, the well-being of the child, and to make sure there was no criminal offence.

The local Children’s Aid Society has been engaged, Pattenden added.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7341.
