The Newmarket African Canadian Association (NACCA) is conducting a survey so it can gather information about the needs and experiences of the Black community in Newmarket and surrounding communities. The survey will help guide the organization's strategic direction over the next five years.

Participants can complete the survey for a chance to win prizes including gift cards to Indigo and local businesses.

“We want to be strategic and purposeful in our approach to community building and an important way to do that is through direct community consultation,” said NACCA chair Jerisha Grant-Hall. “We know that the inequities facing our community are deep and wide but we don’t want to assume anything; we want to hear from the community then look at our objectives and build a plan that makes sense and meets future need.”

Since its inception in 2018 the organization has grown, serving more communities within Newmarket, leading its board of governors to think about how to move forward. The survey is part of that planning process.

Following an open call for proposals, NACCA selected CQ Business Consulting Inc. (CQBC) to develop a five-year strategic plan. Along with the survey CQBC will be holding focus groups with key leaders in the region to gather further insights and help develop a strong plan.

The survey will close on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 12:00am.
