Man faces slew of charges in stolen vehicle crash in Newmarket

A Bradford man faces a slew of charges stemming from a March 11 single-vehicle rollover collision on Davis Drive in Newmarket in which he fled the scene.

York police said the man was located and arrested at a Newmarket home March 13.

“Because of the collision, he had some injuries so our officers determined who he was through investigative means,” York police Const. Laura Nicolle said. “He was arrested in Newmarket and then he was taken to the hospital for his injuries in the collision.”

The blue 2009 Honda Civic involved in the afternoon crash was reported stolen from a Newmarket home the morning of March 10 and York police believe it was involved in other crimes prior to the accident.

Jesse Murray, 34, of Bradford, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine, possession of heroin, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, and failing to stop after an accident.

A female passenger who suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital after being extricated by Central York Fire Services firefighters was also charged by York police.

[Name removed] of Richmond Hill, is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, and possession of cocaine.
