A man has been taken into custody on Friday morning after an hours-long standoff with York Regional Police in Aurora, during which he barricaded himself inside a home.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic incident at a home in the area of Henderson Drive and Child Drive in southwest Aurora during the early hours of Friday morning, according to police.
"There was an allegation of a possible assault. The male refused to come out, and there was some indication that he might have access to weapons," said Const. Laura Nicolle.
"He was alone in the house, no one was in there with him. So we were at the scene trying to negotiate to get him to come out safely."
YRP is onscene in the area for a male who is wanted and refusing to surrender. The community should expect a significant police presence until the incident is resolved and avoid the general area. There are no other public safety concerns at this time.

The standoff and heavy police presence lasted from early of the morning until about 8:30 a.m. when the man was taken into custody.
Nicolle did not know for certain whether the man came out willingly or officers had to go into the home to arrest him.
The investigation is ongoing, and no formal charges have been laid so far. His name has also not been released.
