Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have laid charges after a serious assault with a weapon occurred in the Town of Newmarket.
On Sunday, June 13, 2021, at approximately 2:30 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a residence on Legion Avenue for a report of an assault with a weapon. When officers arrived, they located a 60-year-old male victim who had been hit with a baseball bat. The victim was transported to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Through the investigation officers identified the suspect and he was arrested just after 4 p.m., on June 13.
Charged:
- Damar Abrahams, 20, of the Town of Whitby
Charges:
- Aggravated assault
- Assault with a weapon
- Fail to comply with release order x 2
