Hundreds of local Raptors fans filled the stands at Ray Twinney Recreation Complex last night as "Jurassic Commons" moved indoors for Game 5 of the NBA Finals due to rainy weather, only to watch their team take a tough loss in the last few nail-biting moments of the game.
The Warriors gained an early lead, making most of their points by shooting with pinpoint accuracy from out in the three-point zone. They continued doing this during the game and the Raptors spent most of the evening trailing the Warriors by 6 to 12 points until the last half of the last quarter. With six minutes left, the Raptors started scoring and eventually lead the Warriors by 3 points with just minutes left in the game.
The crowd was energized and moved out of the bleachers onto the arena floor during a time-out. The Warriors fought back hard and flipped the three-point lead. With seconds to go, the Raptors seemed to be in the groove but it was for naught and ended up losing the game by 1 point. Final score: Warriors 106, Raptors 105.
Game 6 is Thursday at 9 p.m. and, weather permitting, you can watch it on the big screen at Jurassic Commons (Newmarket’s Riverwalk Commons at 200 Doug Duncan Dr.).
