Jack-o-lanterns get a second chance to shine after Halloween night with Newmarket’s Pumpkin Parade on Nov. 1.

Once all the trick or treating is done, you’re invited to drop off your carved pumpkins at Riverwalk Commons between 3 and 6 p.m. the day after Halloween.

If you register the pumpkin when you drop it off, providing your name and email, it will be put on display and entered into the contest.

Later that evening, between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m., the jack-o-lanterns will be lit up and residents can come by and vote for their favourites.

The categories include the cutest pumpkin, the scariest pumpkin, and the most creative pumpkin. The winner of each of these will receive a $50 gift card to Farm Boy, who is sponsoring the event.

The grand prize is for the best all around jack-o-lantern, which will win a $100 to Farm Boy Newmarket.

All attendees to the in-person event will be able to vote once.

The winners of the contest will be announced on the town’s website on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
