International banker joins York police services board

YORK REGIONAL POLICE SERVICES BOARD

The York Regional Police Services Board welcomed its newest member, Jennifer Fang, at its Board meeting yesterday. Ms. Fang was appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term commencing June 6, 2019.

“I am very pleased to welcome Ms. Fang to our police services board, and we look forward to working together on ensuring good governance and safe communities in York Region,” said Chair Virginia Hackson.

Ms. Fang has 25 years of international banking, cross-border investment and business management experience with multi-national-corporations in New York and Toronto, including General Motors of Canada, JP Morgan & Chase, BMO and PwC Canada.

Jennifer is a Director and Chair of Audit Committee of a TSX-listed mining company. She is a Senior Advisor to a TSX-listed auto-parts company on corporate development and strategy.

Additionally, Jennifer sits on the board of Providence Healthcare Foundation, which is part of Unity Health Toronto, the largest Catholic healthcare network in Canada. She has also been volunteering at YRDSB school councils since 2010.

Ms. Fang is a graduate of Peking University in China with a BA in International Economics, and she completed her MBA (finance major) at University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Ms. Fang also has CFA and ICD.D professional designations.

“York Region is growing rapidly, and our police service is an important part of ensuring the safety, health and vibrancy of our communities. Therefore, it’s my honour and pleasure to join the York Regional Police Services Board,” said Ms. Fang.

The Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board is a seven-member civilian Board that oversees the York Regional Police and is comprised of one member as Head of Municipal Council, three members are appointed by resolution of Regional Council and three by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
