Every time you go to your neighbourhood park or community centre, borrow a book from the library, have your garbage and recycling picked up, drink clean water, take public transit or have emergency services rush to your side if you make a 911 call, you are using a town or regional service.

Services provided by your local government touch your life every day, which is why the Town of Newmarket's budget should be important to you. And it's about than than just deciding what gets taxed and by how much, the budget is the financial plan for Newmarket’s municipal government.

Council, through the budget, directs staff on how to fund the municipality's priorities for the year. The budget is aligned with the town's strategic plan and determines the level of service provided to Newmarket residents. It also identifies what infrastructure — roads, buildings and public transit — we can afford to build, buy or repair in the year ahead.

You can get involved and learn more about the 2019 budget process by visiting newmarket.ca/2019budget to view all budget-related information, including recent reports and presentations.
