A donation of $20 will get you three balls to lob at local personalities and politicians Sunday in a charity dunk-fest for SickKids Hospital.
Organized by Rebel Rouge hair salon owner Roy Jannetta, the dunk tank event is a fun way for everyone in the community to make a difference in the lives of children who are struggling with illness, he said.
On tap for the dunking is a bevvy of familiar faces in Newmarket and Aurora, including community booster Jackie Playter, Newmarket Councillor Jane Twinney, Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas, Kirk Bowden from the Newmarket Food Pantry, Newmarket photographer Glenn Rodger, Newmarket resident Carlo Galloro, Jannetta himself, and others who may sign up between now and the event.
Special guest Travis Dermott, Newmarket’s own Toronto Maple Leafs’ defenceman will be on hand to sign autographs and cheer on the dunkees.
If all dunking makes you hungry, several food trucks will be on site for your convenience, including Big Bone BBQ, Lobo Iberico, and Philthy Philly’s. DJ Will will spin the tunes to keep everyone pumped.
The charity dunk tank event takes place Sunday, June 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Rebel Rouge, 17817 Leslie St., Unit 33, in Newmarket.
