You will have the chance to voice your support or opposition to a proposed residential development on the western portion of the former Glenway golf course at a public meeting Monday, Feb. 3.

The proposal by developer Marianneville Developments includes a total of 193 new housing units made up of 97 single detached homes and 96 townhouses near the corner of Davis Drive West and Bathurst Street.

Meanwhile, at a public meeting in November 2019, Marianneville Developments asked Newmarket council to “slightly” adjust its official plan and zoning bylaw for two parcels of land it owns at Davis Drive W. and Mitchell Place to make way for one comprehensive development that will see 292 stacked townhouses and 12 live/work units built on the 6.7 acres of currently vacant land, just west of the Newmarket GO station.

Some local residents whose homes back onto Glenway have expressed concerns about noise, vibration, and traffic since new home construction began there almost two years ago.

The public meeting begins with an open house at 6 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. at the Town of Newmarket’s municipal office, 395 Mulock Dr.
