You can celebrate National Forest Week by bringing the family out to a screening of the movie The Lorax Sunday, Sept. 30.

York Region and the Town of Newmarket are hosting the free event at the Old Town Hall, 460 Botsford Street from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

In this movie, a 12-year-old boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it, he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

The Lorax, based on the children’s book by Dr. Seuss, is a 2012 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy-comedy film produced by Illumination Entertainment.

The film builds on the book by expanding the story of the Lorax and Ted, the previously unnamed boy who visits the Once-ler. The cast includes Danny DeVito as the Lorax, Ed Helms as the Once-ler and Zac Efron as Ted. New characters introduced in the film are Audrey, Ted's love interest, voiced by Taylor Swift, Aloysius O'Hare (Rob Riggle), Mrs. Wiggins, Ted's mother (Jenny Slate), and Grammy Norma, Ted's grandmother (Betty White).

The film received mixed reviews from critics, but it was a box office success.
