*****************************
Heat warning in effect for:
    •    Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region
    •    Pickering - Oshawa - Southern Durham Region
    •    Uxbridge - Beaverton - Northern Durham Region
    •    Vaughan - Richmond Hill - Markham

Hot and humid conditions today.

Daytime maximum temperatures in the low 30s are expected along with overnight low temperatures near the 20 degree mark.

There may be a brief respite from the heat in some areas today as showers or thunderstorms are possible.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.

A cold front is expected to deliver a cooler and less humid air mass to the area on Tuesday.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

When it's hot eat cool, light meals.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
