Registration is now open for the 2019 Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake, the largest annual fundraiser for Southlake Regional Health Centre. Early bird registration savings are available until March 1.

This family-friendly event takes place Sunday, April 28, with funds raised supporting the most urgently-needed tools and equipment not funded by the government.

This includes more advanced technology and replacements for equipment that has reached the end of life, items that Southlake’s physicians, nurses and staff depend on to ensure our communities receive the leading-edge care they rely on from Southlake.

The Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake is a 5K timed road race down Davis Drive, a premier route that passes under the iconic Southlake bridge and directly past the regional health centre that serves more than 1.5 million people across York Region, South Simcoe and Dufferin Counties, and even as far north as Muskoka.

Speed corals make this event great for all ages and skill levels, allowing participants to run, jog or walk the route.

Participants include community members, past patients, family and friends of patients, as well as Southlake’s staff, physicians and volunteers. Last year’s event sold out at 1,500 registered participants, and even higher numbers are expected for the 2019 event.

“Everyone who participates has their own story,” Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation president and CEO Susan Mullin said. “We see families and workplaces that form a team to celebrate the tremendous care of a family member, friend or colleague. Others run or walk in memory of a loved one. No matter their story, each of our participants is supporting their families, friends and neighbours by helping Southlake deliver the best possible patient care, close to home.”

All registered participants will receive a free T-shirt, race kit, race bib, finishing medal, finish line photo, free parking, and unlimited access to the Athlete’s Village. Participants will also enjoy musical entertainment at the event, and a Kid Zone with a bouncy castle and face painting.
