UPDATE: Dump truck collides with ambulance on Highway 11 (4 photos)

A northbound dump truck lost control and crossed the centre line when the driver tried to move over for a southbound ambulance with lights activated

Update: 3:30 p.m.  South Simcoe Police are pointing to road conditions as a factor in the collision between a dump truck and County of Simcoe Paramedics ambulance this morning on Highway 11/Yonge Street.

At about 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, police say a northbound dump truck lost control on Yonge at Line 9 when the driver tried to move over for a southbound ambulance with lights activated.

The dump truck crossed the centre line, spun around and struck the back of the ambulance, sending the emergency vehicle off the road.

"There was considerable damage to both vehicles but, fortunately, the two paramedics in the ambulance and the truck driver were not injured," police said in a news release.

Traffic was disrupted for more than two hours while the large vehicles were removed from the area.

The investigation is ongoing.

South Simcoe Police officers are at the scene of a collision that occurred earlier this morning on Highway 11, just north of Line 9, in Bradford during heavy snowfall.

Yonge Street is temporarily closed in the area as police investigate the incident, in which a dump truck reportedly collided with a Simcoe County Paramedics ambulance. Minor injuries have been reported.
