'Dream big': Newmarket hosts entrepreneurs, techies, leaders at summit

The community’s creative minds and big thinkers are gathering in Newmarket tomorrow for the first Arc Summit.

The Town of Newmarket, in collaboration with local homegrown entrepreneurs, students and downtown businesses, is hosting the entrepreneurial-themed gathering to reconnect following the pandemic on Nov. 29 at the Old Town Hall and various locations downtown.

"The Arc Summit will bring together approximately 100 local entrepreneurs, techies, digital natives and business leaders to dream big, think about how to solve challenges in the community and around the world, while getting creative and being inspired," according to a Town of Newmarket advisory.

"The event will feature leading Newmarket technology and innovation businesses, a student pitch competition and more."

Keynote presenters rapper turned award-winning entrepreneur Daniel Lewis and mentalist and marketing strategist Yan Markson will join Mayor John Taylor, council members and a talented lineup of students, innovators, and local entrepreneurs making a global impact.

Featured participants include local entrepreneurs Jessica Rawlley of TIEIT, Mariam Ekram of Koa Natural Foods, Anil Abrol of Eco Guardian, and Dave Lotimer of Lotek, Beth Stevenson of Brain Power Studios, Peter McKinnon (petermckinnon.com), Jack Doak of Old Flame Brewing Co., Sean Stephens of Treefrog, Piers Simpkin of Market Brewing Company, and Erin Gooderham and Meghan Larkin of The Maker’s Mark.

York University and students from Newmarket high schools will also be participating in sessions.
