Newmarket-Aurora MPP Christine Elliott remains untouched as deputy premier and health minister in Premier Doug Ford's large-scale cabinet shuffle today.

However, the government is changing the health care portfolio by creating a long-term care ministry with Merrilee Fullerton as its new minister, and Vaughan MPP Michael Tibollo shuffled as minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture to associate minister of Mental Health and Addictions.

Ford boosted newcomer King-Vaughan MPP Stephen Lecce to Minister of Education, demoting Lisa Thompson, while York-Simcoe MPP Caroline Mulroney, who had held the attorney general's position, moves into the role of transportation minister.

Markham-Stouffville MPP Paul Calandra is now government house leader. He formerly served as parliamentary secretary to prime minister Stephen Harper prior to his defeat in the 2015 federal election.

Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MPP Doug Downey, an Orillia-based lawyer also in his first term as MPP, is the new attorney general.

The shuffle also sees Vic Fedeli moved from the finance portfolio to economic development minister.
