CFUW Aurora/Newmarket is delighted to announce that their 2023 Home and Garden Tour will take place on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tour is the club’s signature fundraising event and will feature six homes and two gardens in Holland Landing, Aurora, Newmarket, and Oak Ridges.

Proceeds from the tour will benefit the club’s scholarship program for young women in the community. Since 1985, the club has given more than $250,000 to over 350 students, including awarding $25,500 to 14 students in 2022.

To mark the first day of spring and to launch this year’s tour, planning committee members visited Marie and Rod Adams in Oak Ridges, who have graciously put their lovely home on tour.

“When I attended the CFUW's Home and Garden Tour last year, I was impressed with the organization and effort of so many volunteers for such a worthy cause: scholarships for young women. A talented woman tennis star once said, ‘The success of every woman should be the inspiration of another. We should raise each other up.' With the scholarships, CFUW's successful women are doing just that!” says Marie Adams, a new CFUW Club member.

Tickets go on sale for $40/person starting April 11 and may be purchased here.

“Last year’s tour was a community favourite and the mainstay of our fundraising efforts, raising $27,000 for scholarships. The guests for this year’s event will be inspired when they visit beautifully decorated homes and lovely garden havens,” says Jean Fraser, co-chair of the Steering Committee.

Here is an overview of this year’s tour:

  • Holland Landing - A home designed by Andrea McMullen of ADM Designs. You can expect to see stunning new design elements both in the home style and furnishings.
  • Newmarket – This garden was transformed by landscape architects, Pathways to Perennials has beautiful stone pathways and perennial gardens that provide seasonal interest.
  • Newmarket - This home is tucked away on one of Newmarket's most sought-after cul-de-sacs and has a large gourmet kitchen and stunning custom millwork crafted by the talented team of Hartley Built.
  • Newmarket - This peaceful sanctuary featuring a fairy garden, a pond and a wide array of annuals and perennials has been featured in NewmarketToday and on other garden tours.
  • Newmarket - Nestled into a mature community, this home designed by Amanda Shields Interiors and built by Hartley Built incorporates stunning, modern features.
  • Aurora - This Aurora Highlands 1969 back split has been redesigned, restructured, and re-engineered to create the open kitchen, family room and dining room. An eclectic art collection adorns the walls of this tastefully designed home.
  • Aurora - Built in 1888, this beautifully maintained yellow brick home has been furnished and decorated with respect for the era in which it was built and is enhanced with a lovely collection of artwork.
  • Oak Ridges - This home pays tribute to family and travel. The large property is wooded in the front and boasts a stunning terraced lawn down to Lake Wilcox.

The scholarship program is the reason many business owners and community partners are sponsors for the tour.

“As female advisors, we believe CFUW is a great way to support young women to grow into successful individuals. When we think of charitable giving, it’s wonderful to see direct impact and results here in Aurora and Newmarket. We truly are stronger together,” says Eileen Vardon, an associate wealth advisor for RBC Wealth Management. “At RBC, we believe the best returns are more than financial.”

Other sponsors for this year’s event include H.J Pfaff Audi, Scotia Wealth Management, the Town of Aurora and NewmarketToday.

To celebrate the second year of the event, Mayors Tom Mrakas and John Taylor will launch the tour with ribbon-cutting ceremonies in Aurora and Newmarket.
