All are welcome to an event organized by l’Association des francophones de la région de York (AFRY) to celebrate St-Jean-Baptiste Day on Sunday, June 23 from noon to 6:30 pm. at Riverwalk Commons, Newmarket.

Fans of French-Canadian music will be able to see talented artists such as Amelie Hall, a singer with pop-rock influences, Melanie Ouimet, finalist in The Voice, and Wise Atangana, hip-hop/urban rap singer.

Moreover, several Francophones entrepreneurs will be with us as exhibitors to sell their diverse products (books, jewelry, clothes, foods) and get their names out to our community. Also, family activities such as face painting have been planned for our guests to have an amazing time with their family and friends.

For centuries, this annual festival is celebrated with pride throughout Canada by the Francophone to highlight their cultural heritage and the beginning of summer.

AFRY is happy to organize annual high-quality events to build bridges between Francophones, Francophiles and Anglophones.

The celebration of this special day was made possible thanks to Patrimoine Canada and the work of the members of the steering committee (all volunteers) comprised of Mrs. Sylvie Lessard, Mr. Rémi Nolet and Mrs. Mariam Ouédraogo.

"I am proud of this new edition of St-Jean-Baptiste Day in York Region. I would like to mention that the steering committee of the event went one step further this year to make sure to offer to the community an ambitious, exciting and worthwhile program. This event proves that the members of our community are dynamic and engaged and I look forward to seeing you at this event," said Nadia Martins, Executive Director of AFRY.
