Central York Fire Services (CYFS) is investigating the cause of a fire at an unoccupied house in northwest Newmarket early this morning.
More than 20 firefighters responded to the call at 12:50 a.m. Oct. 17 on Gilpin Drive, where flames were observed coming out of the first-floor windows of the single-family dwelling, according to an incident report.
Fire crews were able to limit fire damage to the first floor in the residence that was unoccupied due to renovations.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries during suppression activities, the report stated.
The fire was declared under control at 1:48 a.m.
