On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, members of the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested a 33-year-old Barrie man following a lengthy child pornography investigation.

In September of 2017, investigators received a tip concerning the uploading of child pornography. A lengthy investigation led to the execution of several warrants and the seizure of two devices, which were forensically analysed.

The accused has been charged with accessing child pornography, possession of child pornography, distributing child pornography and making child pornography. He will appear in a Barrie Court of Justice on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

The Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit is a partner within Ontario’s Provincial Strategy to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
