Baby, it's hot out there! (7 photos)

Whew, we'll get some relief from the heat wave when a cold front is forecast to arrive Sunday

Newmarket residents who are venturing outside are finding comfort from the heat wave in local pools, splash pads and sprinklers, and with visits to the ice cream truck.

Environment Canada's heat warning predicts daytime temperatures in the low to mid-30s — but it will feel like 40C or higher — today and Saturday.

Little relief is expected tonight and Saturday night as temperatures will only fall to the low to mid-20s, with humidex values remaining near 30C.

A cooler and less humid air mass is forecast to arrive in the wake of a weak cold front Sunday.

Your advised to avoid the extreme heat as much as possible. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
