Aurora High School was in lockdown on the afternoon of Nov. 5 after it was reported that a student was in possession of a weapon.
The York Region District School Board had posted a note on its Twitter account at 2:06 p.m. today that all staff and students are safe, but that the Wellington Street W. school was in a lockdown. It assured followers it would provide an update as soon as possible.
At 2:09 p.m., York Regional Police replied to the school board on social media, saying: “One student has been arrested following a report that he was in possession of a weapon. The lockdown has been lifted. No weapon located at this time. Investigation ongoing.”
