Re: Donation criteria updates mean more people can give blood, Nov. 19
On behalf of Canadian Blood Services, I would like to acknowledge the generosity of blood donors from the Newmarket community.
Over the last year, at 25 different events, Newmarket and area residents donated a whopping 2,479 blood donations; enough to have helped 310 leukemia patients through treatment for one week.
We are so grateful that NewmarketToday shared a recent need for donors at upcoming holiday donor centre events.
Yet another mobile donation event reached its target this week in Newmarket — with 144 donors rolling up a sleeve — demonstrating that local residents know the importance of this life-saving gift.
As the holidays approach and wintry weather threatens to disrupt our collections, we are fortunate for community partners like NewmarketToday that are willing to share the constant need for blood.
We know that without our donors, we could not provide hospital patients with the essential blood and blood products they need.
Together, we are Canada’s lifeline and with your continued support, we can fulfill our vision to help every patient, to match every need and to serve every Canadian.
If you missed your chance to donate this week, we would love for you to join us at one of the following upcoming events:
Monday, Dec. 10 from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 100 Pony Dr., Newmarket
Saturday, Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon
East Gwillimbury Sports Complex, 1914B Mount Albert Rd., Sharon
Friday, Dec. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Newmarket Community Centre, 200 Doug Duncan Dr., Newmarket
Thanks for your continued support!
